WILLIAMSTON-
It was an exciting day at the Northeast Technology and Business Center
Wednesday, February 15 as Speaker of the N.C. House of Representatives
Jim Black visited the TeleCenter and other Martin County sites, such as
the Senator Bob Martin Agricultural Center and the historic Martin
County courthouse. Accompanying him was Representative Edith Warren.
Speaker Black, a
Democrat from Mecklenburg County, was on a tour of Martin County at the
invitation of Mort Hurst, Chairman of County Commissioners, to view the
progress of the renovation of the Martin County courthouse, as well as
to see some of the other projects going on within the county. He was
given a tour of the TeleCenter by Jason Semple, the Director of
Operations, and Stan Crowe, Chairman of the Martin County Economic
Development Corporation.
“The Telecenter is
such a great asset to this community.” said Speaker Black. During his
visit, Speaker Black went to various conference rooms and offices, one
of which included the Martin County Schools classroom for the Computer
Engineering Technology classes taught by Charles Thorne. “What a great
opportunity for our students to learn in this type of environment,”
remarked Rep. Black.
