County Human Resources officials gathered at the TeleCenter today to learn
about Ann’s House of Nuts, one of Martin County’s newest industries.
Chris Taylor presented an overview of the company and its plans for Martin
County.
Ann’s House of Nuts has
acquired the former Guy’s Food building in Robersonville. The company
manufactures and processes a variety of nuts, dried fruits, mixes, and gift
items – over 225 items in all. Ann’s House of Nuts uses the latest in
high performance technology equipment to remain competitive, which has
ensured its extraordinary growth over the years.
Ann’s House of Nuts could
be called an American dream-come-true story. The company was established in
1973 on the kitchen table at the home of Ann and Ed Zinke. It has grown into
one of the largest specialty snack companies in the United States by
providing the very best quality products at competitive prices and through
its exceptional customer service.
Ann’s House of Nuts’
impressive client list is a Who’s Who in American retailing, including:
Sam’s Clubs, where under the Members Mark brand they are the number one
trial mix sold . . . Targets stores, where under the Kirkland Signature
brand they are the number one snack food item at check out counters. They
also serve quality retailers such as Cosco, Walmart, K-mart, and Food Lion.
In an example of their
attention to quality, service, and distribution, K-Mart Corporation
recognized Ann’s House of Nuts as their top vendor in 1999. Ann’s House
of Nuts also has international accounts in England, Canada, South and
Central America, Germany, and Israel.
“It was exciting to learn
about Ann’s House of Nuts plans for Martin County,” said Billi Jean
Wynne, executive director of the Martin County Chamber of Commerce, who
organized the event. “I think Mr. Taylor’s presentation and the question
and answer that followed, gives us all a better understanding of the company
and their commitment to Martin County.”
